I am captivated by intersections and perceptions, dichotomies such as high brow/low brow, beautiful and macabre, elegance and kitsch.

The pieces in Objects of Love and Desire originally came from my interpretation of the lucky rabbit’s foot. How does an object take on such meaning? How as a child could I disassociate so much from this object and forget it’s orgin as a severed limb. It was soft and furry and beautiful. It’s horrific orgin never crossed my mind. I have been investigating the idea of trophies and collection for years. This journey began with hunting trophies and images related to that. My own aesthetic is informed by mid century modernism as much as by chaotic assortments of low brow kitch.  The hierarchy in that statement itself intrigues me.

This work is born of whimsy, fantasy, decoration and extravagance.
