“An object as absurd and beautiful as a celadon-glazed cinder block may delight us, or it may bring a level of confusion, perhaps even discomfort. While Love so so ordinary is not a surrealist show (this body of work has far more in common with conceptualism or the process art movement), by subverting the purpose and appearance of functional objects, Pitsch appears to be engaging with the surrealist concept known as estrangement: an attempt at seeing an object anew by displacing it.”
